Day 1

MORNING

Before you even check-in there’s plenty to see and do on your way to Maleny. Australia Zoo is a popular tourist destination for animal lovers and is located in Beerwah (about a 30 minute drive from Oak Ridge). The Eumundi Markets are a great place to explore and pick up a local souvenir from talented artisans or grab some fresh produce for your stay. Open on Wednesday and Saturday from 7:30am-2pm.

Not far from Eumundi, you’ll find The Doonan (pictured here), a beautiful venue nestled in the Noosa hinterland. Set on 2 hectares and a stones throw from the famous local beaches, The Doonan offers indoor and outdoor dining, bars, beer gardens, a pizzeria, ice creamery, and bespoke bottle shop. It’s the perfect spot for a delicious lunch. The gardens are gorgeous and you’ll leave feeling inspired. Keep your eye on their website for upcoming events too!

Day 1

AFTERNOON

Take a scenic drive to Kenilworth to visit the highly popular Kenilworth Bakery – located in the main strip of Kenilworth (8 Elizabeth St). They have two shopfronts – one dedicated to savoury goods like pies and sausage rolls and the other entirely dedicated to donuts (pictured here). They are open everyday from 8am-3pm.

If cheese is more your thing - while you’re in town be sure to visit the Kenilworth Cheese Factory (45 Charles St). Open everyday from 7:30am-3pm, pick up one of their gourmet cheeses or dine in at their cafe for breakfast or lunch.

From Kenilworth, take a 35 minute drive via Connondale to get to Oak Ridge Cottage (located in Witta). Check in, put your feet up and relax, you’ve arrived!

Night 1

Don’t feel like cooking? There are loads of great restaurants in the area to choose from. If you’re in the mood for some traditional pub grub, the Maleny Hotel (6 Bunya St) serves up all the usual favourites like burgers, steaks, fish and chips, and schnitties. Whilst you don’t need a booking, we recommend booking a table as they do get very busy.

If its delicious Asian-inspired cuisine you’re wanting, we highly recommend Pocky Asian Restaurant pictured here (4 Maple St). Our favourite dishes include the Three Cup Chicken, Penang Curry and Corn Ribs. You don’t need a reservation, however this place gets packed on the weekends so we advise to go early. Open Wednesday - Sunday 4:30pm til late.

Day 2

MORNING

Start the morning with a stroll along Maleny-Kenilworth Rd (the footpath is located directly across the road from Oak Ridge) - turn to the left and walk all the way down to the end of the footpath, passing a cattle farm and some great mountain views along the way. On your return pop into local cafe the Nest in Witta which is located diagonally opposite Oak Ridge (if you turn to the right it’s about a 1 minute walk. They serve up delightful breakfast and lunch options. Open from Wednesday - Sunday 7am-1pm.

Alternatively you can whip up breakfast from the cottage kitchen. We offer a breakfast pack for just $30 per morning - you can pre-purchase yours by clicking here.

For the adventurous, take a hike around Kondalilla National Park (approx 2 hour walk) and take a swim at the base of the falls. If you’d like a shorter, more casual stroll we recommend Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve (pictured here).

Day 2

AFTERNOON

If all that walking has worked up your appetite, there are a number of great cafes open for lunch. If you’re wanting to explore the town of Maleny at the same time, try Franks, Monica’s Cafe (pictured here) or Sarah’s Unplugged. For the best pies and sausage rolls in town it has to be The Maleny Pie Guy.

If you’ve just walked at Mary Cairncross you may want to dine in at Mountain View Café.

After lunch visit the charming town of Montville. The drive from Maleny to Montville is very scenic and you’ll find Gerrards Lookout with amazing views out to the Sunshine Coast.

Night 2

Enjoy the sunset views from the cottage deck or viewing platform. For a cosy night in cook dinner in our fully equipped kitchen. The local IGA in Maleny stock some great gourmet goodies.

If you’re looking for something special, we can recommend AnRvi in Maleny or the Mapleton Pub – it’s a little bit of a drive but well worth it. This isn’t your average pub meals – it’s elevated dining with a focus on fresh local produce. A little pricey and ideal for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.
